There are a lot of mysteries in the 40k universe. Exactly who is the Emperor? How tall is an Imperator Titan? Who would win if Ursakar E. Creed played chess against Eldrad Farseer? Exactly what is a true Hufflepuff anyway? But there is one riddle that out-puzzles all of these combined. How do you pronounce Roboute Guilliman?
This a mystery that has tormented the 40k fandom ever since those long ago days when we first learnt of the Primarchs. But today, I can provide you with an answer. Behold! How to Pronounce Roboute Guilliman.
I trust that answers all of your questions.
If you still can’t get enough hot Primarch action, you might like to check out this infographic that I whipped up over the weekend…

That’s it. Gotta go do the washing up now.
PS: Techno-Viking, shorter than you think but larger than you imagine, Eldrad until he realises his rooks have been replaced with Baneblades, what the hell is a Hufflepuff!?
Dude, your Roboute Guilliman pronouncer is hilarious! 😀
Its one of those incredibly trivial things that trip you up when reading it, then think nothing of it until someone such as your good self points it out and makes fun of it. I’ve always secretly dismissed Roboute as an idiot, just for insisting on having such a stupidly unpronounceable name. As for my efforts in attempting to articulate it, i’ve usually resorted to: ‘Robot Gwilman’ in frustration. Then i’m like: “yeah, your a fucking Robot, Roboute. That’s what you get for being the primarch with a dumb name and…stuff.. grrrrrr”.
Games Workshop needs to rectify this by realising: “Codex Articulatis”. Now, how does one pronounce ‘Tau’?
Next time I meet a Frenchman I’m so going to ask them how to pronounce it. Now I just have to remember how to spell it. This is all really such a waste of brainspace and time yet I can’t help myself, I’ve gotta scratch this itch.
I generally go with “Row-boat-ay Gilla-man”, but that’s nothing but personal preference. Variations along the lines of “Raw-butt Girly-man” seem popular to annoy Ultramarines players, but I believe the correct French pronunciation is something like “Hwoboo Gweemaih”
Ah, Lexicanum suggests the official pronunciation is /rɒb’uːt ‘guːlɪmæn/ which when translated out of the IPA into Australian English is something like “Raw-boot Goo-li-man”.
I still like “Robot Gilligan” though 🙂
Ok, I’m settling on “Raw-butt Girly-man”. Case closed, I’m done with this.
